I just did not feel right. . .

I heard a parent,

Telling his son:

“Don’t cry like girls.”

And I just did not feel right.

I heard that,

The boys were told that

They are the sole breadwinner of the family.

And I just did not feel right.

I was told that

there is grand celebration of Lohri,

only for a son’s birth.

And I just did not feel right.

I saw a parent,

exempting  her son’s behaviour

with just a ‘Boys will be boys’.

And I just did not feel right.

I was told that:

a sister ties rakhi on her brother’s wrist,

and not even the brother on the sister’s wrist…

‘cause only he protects her.

And I just did not feel right.

I heard someone,

Telling a lady:

To cover her head,

As people are not good.

And I just did not feel right.

I was told that,

I should not talk about my periods.

And I just did not feel right.

I was told that it is,

Only the Prince,

Who saves the Princess.

And I just did not feel right.

And it was not right. . .

TITLE: DO WE NEED ONE?

HEY EVERYONE,

So, I am back with a new blog and at the end of this blog, I will ask you all a question and you can answer in the comments. There are some moments in which we may, perhaps unintentionally, promote gender inequality. So, here they are:

  •  The first day of school, if your son cries, what will you say to him? "Don't cry like girls", this may seem a small thing to you but has a great impact on that boy's mind. It's high time now.We must teach our sons that "Boys don't make someone cry" instead "Boys don't cry".
  • I know this may sound absurd but I am quite against Fairy Tales where girls are always shown as a 'Damsel in Distress' and hence setting a wrong example to all the little girls reading them. We need to tell our coming generations better versions of these Fairy Tales.
  • Whenever we exempt boys' wrongdoings with just a "Boys will be boys."

  • When we have a grand celebration of Lohri only for a son's birth and not of a daughter.
  • When we have a problem when our son likes painting as painting is so called 'Girlish'.
  • Cricket is only for boys and dolls are only for girls. Is it ? I don't think so.

  • Girls out at night: We will ask every single thing... why?what?how? and... Boys out at night: We hardly notice. All parents must ensure that their son is not one of the reasons that a girl is not allowed at night.
  • Are girls gold diggers? We would notice the girls who cheat for money but we never notice the girls who are richer than their husband or brother.
  • At times, I don't understand what is this society? Where we have so many rules and restrictions for Females.
  • When we call a Feminist, a Male Hater. So, in other words according to society favouring one means hating the other? So that means Males and Females are enemies? because we know they are not...
  • Girls ought to prove their worth, like seriously? Girls have standards according to which they never prove their worth, ones who understand are lucky and ones who don't ..... well... all the best to them.
Now, the question: Do you think that Gender Inequality is the same thing as Female Inferiority? Do tell me in the comments with just a 'Yes' or 'No',there would be no need to explain.
